One of my design exploration projects early in my program, the Honda Speaker was an exercise in studying and applying existing brand cues to a new product. In this class, we were tasked to create a portable bluetooth speaker, styled with cues from a brand of our choice. Once we came up with a design, our final deliverable was to create a full-scale physical model of the product.
Model Making
After settling on a design, the next step was to create a full-scale model of the speaker. Modeled in Fusion, my model is comprised of 13 individually 3D printed parts, that were then hand sanded and painted using automotive-grade finishes. The grill is upholstered with a fabric to appear more realistic as a speaker mesh, and in the rear, I placed a USB C port to show where it would charge.
